Using a laptop bag or sleeve can help prevent hinge damage. A laptop takes a lot of abuse hitting the floor in a backpack or bouncing around a briefcase. A protective laptop bag can help prevent hinge damage before it’s too late.
How does this happen? Hitting the floor, bouncing around in the car or shoved in a backpack just to name a few. There are too many to list them all. Avoid this problem by using a protective case about 2-3 times the thickness of your laptop. Always keep your laptop safely padded in a case or sleeve during travel. Open and close the lid gently to reduce stress on the hinge.
A broken hinge can cause serious damage to your laptop if not repaired. Does your laptop go dark when adjusting the screen? Do you hear popping noises when opening the lid? In that case, you may want to take your laptop to Computers Made Easy. Close the lid gently and head on over.
During repair we may find broken plastic or loose parts. Sometimes, the damages can be repaired without the need of replacement parts. Other times, the laptop will be disassembled for diagnosis by a bench technician.
